The Environment

Best Friends Veterinary Surgery is proud to be an eco friendly practice. We have implemented the following meaures in an effort to reduce our impact on the environment: -

  • The heating in the surgery is provided by an ultra-high effiency Worcester-Bosch Greenstar 37CDi condensing boiler.
  • A Honeywell CM Zone computerised control system has been fitted so that the temperature of every single radiator in the practice is individually controlled. Radiators in rooms which are not in use are automatically shut down. Alternatively overnight just one room (such as the cat or dog ward) can be left warm whilst the rest of the building shuts down.
  • Electronic equipment such as computers are connected to Intelliplug power saving devices which automatically shut off power to peripherals such as monitors and printers when the main PC powers down.
  • We recycle as much as we can from the surgery including cardboard packaging, paper, tins and bottles. Even our kennel liners and cat litter are made from recycled paper.
  • We use rainwater collected via outside waterbutts for watering our plants and hanging baskets in the summer months.
